Kansas City. The city of fountains. The city of 200 fountains.
As we climbed out of the car, I could immediately feel my hair expand as I was hit with a wave of humidity. The smell of rain and exhaust crawled into my nose. My head was foggy from many hours of travel, accompanied by very little sleep. But I was filled with a deep sense of gratitude.
Earlier in the day, I hopped on a plane from Albany to Newark and then again from Newark to Kansas City. My childhood friend Haleigh was getting married, and I did not want to miss it for the world.
Haleigh and I met somewhere back in 6th grade at church. We were friends with the same people, but it did not take long for us to become real friends. Our friendship looked like lots of late night sleepovers in college, a very memorable road trip to Texas, and eating way too much pizza and ice cream. While in high school, Haleigh went on a missions trip to Bolivia. Not long after that trip, she felt a calling from the Lord to be a missionary in Bolivia.
Fast forward a few years, and Haleigh and Luis met. Luis was born and raised in Bolivia, and also felt a call to missions in his life. Their love quickly grew as they dated long distance (while Luis was in Africa for missions). After he returned, they soon got engaged, and then had their first wedding in Bolivia. Due to Haleigh’s friends and family living in the States, they decided to have a second wedding in Missouri.
Prior to a crazy, but beautiful wedding weekend, we snuck away to downtown Kansas City for some engagement photos! Despite the rain, it was a beautiful time getting to document Luis and Haleigh’s love story!
