The earliest I have ever woken up for a session was 2:50 AM. No joke. For those of you who know me well, you know I am not a morning person and need some convincing to wake up and function before the sun is up. About two weeks ago, I received a phone call from a nurse practitioner that I work with at the hospital. She said that her son was planning to propose to his girlfriend, and was looking for a photographer to capture the moment! When she called me, I was sitting at home, quarantined after receiving radioactive iodine for my thyroid cancer. After assuring her I would be healthy and available to take photos, I contacted James and set the whole thing up.
When I contacted James, he expressed how he was planning to hike Mount Jo in the Adirondacks and pop the question to Jamie at the top! I was beyond thrilled to be available to capture such a special moment! After about a 2.5 hour drive, I arrived a little before 6 AM. This hike was short, only a mile, but was crazy steep and I was slightly concerned I would not make it to the top. But alas, I made it to the top around 6:25, and proceeded to find the perfect place to hide and wait for James and Jamie to arrive.
No sooner than ten minutes later, they arrived at the top of the summit. I am sure James was nervous, although he did not appear so. But as I waited behind a rock, for what felt like 30 minutes, I was convinced I would give away my hiding space with how loud my heart was beating! But just like in a magical moment from the movies, in the crisp cool fog, James popped the question. Jamie was shocked! I could go on and on, but I will let the photos speak for themselves. James and Jamie, you are both SO freakin photogenic, and I am beyond excited for you as you prepare to become husband and wife!
